You know, it's funny how often the phrase 'one thing leads to another' rings true in life. My interest in 1/32 Slot cars got jump-started by my interest in real cars and real racing. Naturally, if you're anything like me, when you get jazzed about something, you start buying books and magazines to learn all about the subject! Once I started looking around, I was really surprised how many great auto racing books, 1/32 slot car books and magazines are available. When I buy a slot car, I just can't resist the urge to read up on its history and look at pretty pictures of the real thing, it's just part of the fun of racing and collecting slot cars! The stories of guys like Carrol Shelby, Mario Andretti, and Phil Hill for example, are just fascinating. And the stories of the people and events involved in the development of cars like the Ford GT40, Ferrari, and Porsche racing cars are just as interesting. Jeez! Talk about your car nuts, the people in these books are THE definition of the term!

The rich history of racing events like LeMans and the many Formula 1 tracks is also fascinating reading for us auto race fans. And of course, being a photographer by trade, I really appreciate the great racing action and car photographs in these books. A few years ago there were very few slot car magazines available. Now there are some great quality magazines to choose from! Model Car Racing is a U.S. based bi-monthly with great articles ranging from scenery building to chassis tuning and comparative reviews of new slot car releases. Mas Slot is a Spanish large format magazine that recently came out with an English language version. It is an excellent publication; unfortunately shipping costs precipitated the end of the international version. (We still have a few back issues left however.) GSR is also a high quality Spanish publication translated to English that provides a great overview of recent slot car releases. We also carry Scale Auto Racing News (SARN). It focuses on club news from around the U.S. and focuses on H.O. 1/24 and 1/32 slot cars. Hope you get a chance to pick up one of these great slot car magazines soon!
